We started this journey in August 2014 to tell the story of Nuriootpa and its development as a community.
While sitting in Coulthard House, the home of one of Nuriootpa’s pioneering families, we started thinking about the origins of the house and the people who lived and worked there. From there we began to uncover the town’s more recent history of the 1930s and 40s, along with the people who wanted to create a community that would provide for their families.
With boxes full of photos and archival material, we felt that the town’s rich history and its many stories need to be explored and shared. The more we uncover the town’s foundations and the more we talk to people, the more excited we become about capturing the community spirit, both past and present.
